How we work
Ethics & Conflicts
How we keep coverage independent.
Conflicts of interest
The editor and reviewers disclose to the publisher any financial interest, employment, family relationship or advisory role connected to a company, law firm, settlement administrator, agency or program we cover. A person with a conflict does not write or review the page concerned.
Gifts and travel
We do not accept gifts, paid travel, or hospitality from companies, law firms, administrators or agencies we cover.
Political activity
FactFiled does not endorse candidates or take positions on legislation. We report what documents say and what they mean for readers.
Affiliate independence
Affiliate links are chosen after the page is written and never influence which notices we cover, what the Key facts say or what the "What to do" steps recommend. Safety pages on the Recalls & Safety desk carry no affiliate links.
Sources and privacy
We name the documents we use. We do not publish personal information about private individuals beyond what an official document already makes public, and we do not name minors.
Fairness
Allegations in a complaint are described as allegations. A settlement is described as resolving claims without an admission of wrongdoing unless the court's order or the agreement says otherwise. Companies named in recall or layoff pages are described using the agency's or the company's own language.
