Vehicle recalls: recent NHTSA campaigns
Safety recall campaigns filed with NHTSA for ten of the best-selling 2025 models, with the campaign number, the component, the defect summary and the remedy. Your own car is checked by VIN.
Last verified · refreshed weekly
Every vehicle safety recall is filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration under a campaign number, with the defect, the risk and the remedy in the manufacturer’s words. The rows below are the campaigns NHTSA’s recall database lists for ten high-volume 2025 models, most recent first. A campaign covers specific vehicles by VIN, not every car of that model, so the only way to know whether your car is included is the VIN lookup.
Every remedy on a safety recall is free at a franchised dealer of the brand; how a vehicle recall remedy works explains the obligation and its limits.

Questions readers ask
- How do I find out whether my car has an open recall?
- Enter the 17-character VIN, or your license plate and state, in NHTSA’s free recall lookup. A campaign covers specific vehicles by VIN, not every car of that model, so the lookup is the only way to know whether yours is included.
- Do I have to pay for a recall repair?
- No. The manufacturer must remedy a safety defect or noncompliance at no charge to the owner, at any franchised dealer of that brand, whether or not you bought the car there or are the original owner.
- Why are only ten models listed here?
- The tracker queries NHTSA’s database for a set of high-volume 2025 models and lists the campaigns returned. A campaign often covers other models and years too; the summary names them, and more models are added as the desk expands.
