FTC refunds: who is being paid now
Every refund program the Federal Trade Commission is currently distributing, with the total, the number of payments and whether a claim is required, from the FTC’s own case pages.

When the Federal Trade Commission sues a company and the company pays, the money often goes back to the people who were harmed. The FTC publishes a page for each refund program with the amount, who qualifies and how the money is sent, and most of the time no claim is needed: the FTC has the customer list from the company and sends a check or a Zelle payment to the address or email on file.
Two details catch people out. Checks usually have to be cashed within 90 days, and the FTC says so on each page. And the FTC never asks for money or bank details to release a refund; a message that does is not from the FTC. How FTC refund programs work explains the process from lawsuit to payment.

- Do I need to file a claim to get an FTC refund?
- Usually not. The FTC works from the company’s own customer records and sends checks or Zelle payments automatically. The case page says explicitly when a claim is required.
- How long do I have to cash an FTC refund check?
- 90 days from issue, according to the FTC case pages. After that the check is void and the money returns to the fund to be redistributed.
- How can I tell a real FTC refund from a scam?
- The FTC never asks for money, a gift card or bank credentials to release a refund, and it does not send links to verify eligibility. If a payment does not arrive, the case page names the refund administrator to call.
