Meta files its WARN notices with California, where its headquarters and most of its offices are, and California publishes them. From October 2025 to May 2026 the company filed 20 notices covering 1,938 employees; the 2026 notices alone number 15 and cover 1,630. The largest batch came on May 22 and 24, 2026: five notices for 1,058 employees in Burlingame, San Francisco, Sunnyvale, Fremont and Playa Vista, effective July 22 and August 1.
The table groups the notices by the day they were filed. Meta has filed no 8-K Item 2.05 restructuring disclosure in 2026, so the state filings are the only official count. How WARN notices work explains the rule; the California WARN notices tracker lists the state's latest filings from every employer.

Questions readers ask
- Why are Meta’s layoffs only listed for California?
- Because the company’s covered sites are there and the WARN notice goes to the state where the site is. Offices in other states that meet the thresholds would file with those states; this page reads California’s listing and adds other states as they are checked.
- Do the notices say which teams were cut?
- No. A WARN notice gives the address, the number of employees, whether the action is a layoff or a closure and whether it is permanent, and the effective date. Job titles are in the notice sent to the workers, not in the state’s summary.
- Why do some notices list one or two employees?
- Because a single layoff decision can touch several buildings, and the employer files one notice per address. The Menlo Park batches of October 2025 and February 2026 include buildings with one to three affected employees each.
