Beef recalls 2026: every FSIS recall and alert
Ground beef, imported cuts and deli beef pulled this year by USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, with the establishment numbers and codes that identify the packages.

Beef is not an FDA product. Recalls of meat and poultry come from the Food Safety and Inspection Service at the US Department of Agriculture, which publishes each one as a recall or, when the product is no longer on sale, as a public health alert. The package is identified by the establishment number printed inside the USDA mark of inspection, and that number is what this page carries for each entry.
The 2026 list so far holds three recalls and three alerts: an E. coli O145 finding in ground beef from Idaho in February, an Argentine import that skipped reinspection in August, a Listeria finding in Chicago-made pastrami and corned beef the next day, and alerts for metal in a grass-fed ground beef, meat produced without inspection, and a jerky with undeclared wheat. - Check the establishment number inside the USDA mark on the package against the row; the brand alone does not settle it. Official link

Questions readers ask
- Why is a beef recall on the USDA site and not the FDA site?
- Meat, poultry and egg products are inspected by USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, which announces their recalls. The FDA covers almost everything else, including shell eggs and produce. A recalled frozen dinner can fall on either side depending on how much meat it contains.
- What is a public health alert?
- A notice FSIS issues when a problem is found but a recall is not requested, usually because the product is no longer available for purchase. It carries the same product details as a recall so that people who already bought the item can check their freezer.
- How do I tell whether my ground beef is part of a recall?
- Find the USDA mark of inspection on the package. The establishment number printed inside it, such as EST. 630, identifies the plant, and the notice lists the number along with the product name, case code and use-by date. All of them have to match.
