Walmart recalls 4.4 million Expert Grill brushes
Metal wire bristles can detach and stick to the grill or the food, a risk of serious internal injury. Walmart is offering a refund or credit. No injuries have been reported.
Walmart is recalling about 4,477,655 Expert Grill metal wire bristle grill brushes because the bristles can come off. The recall, announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission on October 1, 2026 as recall 27-010, covers five models sold at Walmart stores and on Walmart.com between January 2021 and August 2026 for between $1 and $28.
What is wrong
The notice says small metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes and stick to the grill or to food. That is an ingestion hazard, with what the notice calls a risk of serious internal injuries that could require surgery. No incidents or injuries are reported. A bristle that comes off a grill brush is small, hard to see and easy to miss on a grill grate, which is why this kind of product comes up in recalls and why the instruction is to stop using the brush rather than to inspect it.
Which brushes
All are Walmart's Expert Grill brand, with black plastic or stainless-steel handles; some have a metal scraper attached. The model number is on the packaging or on a sticker or tag attached to the brush. The five models are the 16-inch steel fiber scrub brush and scraper (EX5607031616002, sold January 2025 to August 2026), the handheld steel fiber scrub brush with ergonomic handle (EX5607031616003, January 2025 to August 2026), the 21-inch three-head brush with stainless steel bristles and soft-grip handle (XG1310700206, January 2022 to August 2026), the long handle brush with scraper, 17.7 inches (XG1136178597003, January 2021 to August 2026) and the 10-piece stainless steel grill tool set (XG1410700124, December 2023 to August 2026). The brushes were made in China and imported by Walmart, Inc. of Bentonville, Arkansas.
