Amazon layoffs 2026: every WARN notice
What Amazon has told California and Washington about layoffs and closures since October 2025, batch by batch, from the states’ own WARN reports.

Amazon does not announce layoffs by site. The states do, because the WARN Act requires the company to tell them 60 days ahead when a site closes or a large layoff is planned, and California and Washington publish what they receive. This page reads those reports and groups Amazon's filings into the batches in which they arrived.
Two batches stand out. On October 28, 2025, the company filed 39 notices across five California counties for 1,536 corporate employees, effective January 26, 2026. On January 28 and 29, 2026, it filed 22 site closures for 3,855 employees, effective April 28, and 27 further layoff notices for 1,025 employees. The company has filed no 8-K Item 2.05 restructuring disclosure in 2026, so the state filings are the only official count. Questions readers ask
- Why does Amazon appear in state WARN lists but not in SEC filings?
- Because the two rules trigger differently. A WARN notice is required for any covered site closure or large layoff, regardless of cost. An 8-K Item 2.05 is required only when a company commits to a restructuring with material charges, and Amazon has filed none in 2026.
- What are the MA and SJC codes on the notices?
- They are the company’s own site codes as written on the notices. The January 2026 closures carry codes beginning MA and MB at retail addresses across Southern California and Sacramento; the corporate notices carry airport-style codes such as SJC, SNA, SAN, LAX and SFO for the metro area.
- Are these all of Amazon’s 2026 layoffs?
- No. They are the notices filed in California and Washington, the two states whose listings this page reads. Warehouse and delivery sites in other states file with those states, and cuts below the WARN thresholds are never filed anywhere.
